We Install 2lb Closed cell spray foam and 0.5lb open cell spray foam.
95% of the Time when we spray foam we spray foam 2lb Closed cell foam due to its ridged structure, and High R value per inch makes it the best choice for most projects, however some times when dealing with large cavities 0.5lb open cell foam may be the best choice for the job. SPRAY FOAM INSULATION
Building code has changed from a decade ago, while Batt insulation is not necessary the most bulletproof way to insulate, for specific projects may be the right choice when budget is limited, we understand that Spray foam is a superior insulating product but so is the price point, and when its a new build it can make sense to spray foam the joist pockets of the house and batt insulation the rest of the exterior walls especially when you are doing continuous ridged insulation from outside of the house. This can save you good amount of money without compromising perfermormance.
BATT INSULATION
There is two kinds of products in the market place to insulate your attic. One is called cellulose insulation and the other is called fibreglass blown in insulation, Cellulose tents to have higher R value per inch than Fibreglass but because is heavier insulation material it also compacts much quicker than fibreglass. The other reason why we think Fibreglass is a superior material is that the cellulose is very dusty and the chemical fire retardants can continue to off gas even after installation.
